Dar Assalam Mosque – Neuköllner Begegnungsstätte e.V.
The Dar Assalam Mosque, also known as Neuköllner Begegnungsstätte e.V., is one of the largest Muslim congregations in Berlin. The association operating the mosque was founded in 2007, and since then it has developed into a central gathering place for Berlin’s Arab and broader Muslim community. Located in Flughafenstraße 43 in Neukölln, it welcomes up to 1,500 worshippers for Friday prayers.
In addition to religious services, the mosque runs a variety of educational and social programs, including Arabic and Islamic studies, literacy and language courses, women’s and youth groups, and numerous initiatives for intercultural and interreligious dialogue. These activities make it not only a place of worship but also an important community center promoting exchange and integration in a diverse urban neighborhood.
For an outside visit, participants can observe the mosque’s distinctive brick building in the lively Neukölln district and gain a sense of its significance as both a spiritual home and a hub for dialogue and community engagement in Berlin. Visitors are kindly asked to follow the usual etiquette when entering a mosque: remove shoes before stepping into the prayer hall, wear respectful clothing, keep photography to a minimum unless permission is given, and show consideration during prayer times.
